I agree with the request, shortage handling in general is not as good as I've seen in other systems.
What I'd really like to see in addition to this is a process that can also be used closer to the point of work order release. An interactive 'bulk trial kitting process', where you can make multiple selections against multiple orders helping to manage those with shortages to enable the best choice of orders for production, whilst the shortages are expedited in.
Please, note that there is a small correction on the description above, as follows:
The amounts, currencies and prices per unit* should be named and grouped per currency in order the users to have better visibility on the different amounts/prices and easily distinguish them one from another depending on the accounting, reporting, sales or transaction currency.
