This is a VERY common ask for lots of our clients using the Jobs Module.

The Posted Sales (Prepayment) Invoice document certainly presents issues for many of our customers. I am not sure if the same is the case with Purchase Prepayments so will focus only on the Sales function in my comments.

The need for the posting to G/L Accounts on these invoices is understood and I can appreciate that it should not be altered as explaining the subsequent posting to auditors, customers or users would be further complicated.


Perhaps the creation of the Posted Sales Invoice could incorporate a behavior similar to that when creating a Sales Invoice using the Get Shipment Lines function, which copies text to the Description field so as to provide an explanation as to where the Invoice line(s) originated. This may be the combination of one or many lines, depending on whether the Compress Prepayment was selected or not (I actually believe that this solution would add merit to compressing the prepayment). This description could refer to the ordered Item No., Quantity, Unit Price and Line Amount (possible discounts). This would not require any additional fields or change in posting and would support the required G/L Posting and necessary audit trail.


Note: This does not address the complications of Prepayments where amendments are required to the source document. This applies to both sales and purchases where warehouse handling can frequently disrupt this workflow.

Having this be asynchronous is a positive thing, we just need a better UI to view the progress. Use the same type of dialog as modern email that can be minimized and multiple may be hidden at the bottom of the window and status checked. It would be great if the color of the window changed based on status updates of the process, so at a glance it would be visible even minimized.

I like your idea and it would be great to have a fallback option to use a holographic anchor in the case where the positioning has been thrown off by reflections or foreign objects.(in my case, walking around the object but obstructed by a concrete column).

I agree with Steve's point, as takes too long to edit the text layout when viewing the printout as the page breaks right in the middle of a paragraph. Having to work between this to move the text is not efficient. Shame, as in general Dynamics is efficient and a powerful tool.

This idea has been submitted in 2020. We are end of 2022 and the issue is still in the latest version of the product.

It would be great to be able to resize both colomns and the window.

On Item table remove "Base Unit of Measure" and "Unit price" as DropDown fields. Not all Customers use them. If needed it can be added in Customer app.

TPAR is a mandatory requirement for Australia. Can we have this implemented soon.
