Thanks for your idea. As classic built-in planning is deprecated we will not invest in it providing more CTP options, as your idea is suggesting.
With Planning Optimization, we have CTP capabilities that will always give you the accurate result, taking into account the delivery dates of all planned orders. Calendars per site

Add parameter to skip firming when no reservation can be made
